My dad grew up in city side of Serbia. They lived in a huge apartment with a few stories, they lived on the fifth floor. My Dad’s earliest memory would be when he and his brother went to the park just outside his house and this lady came up to them and was pretending to be their mother because there was a guy that wanted to kidnap them. She told them to go run back inside and stay there for the rest of the day. He was 5 at the time of this incident. My Dad’s passions were constructing but also baking because he would often help my Grandma with dinner. My Dad always loved going to church as he always thought it was such a sacred place and just loved the spirit of it. He did indeed become a priest and did pursue his lifelong goal. He remembers his Grandparents as being strong-willed and loving. He said that he always seemed to have some sort of special bond with them.

My Grandma grew up in the city side of Serbia. Most of the day she would be in the streets playing with all her neighbours, this was pretty dangerous for a little child like she was. She had older siblings who would let her play with them but there were always some strange people in the streets. One of my Grandmas hobbies were cooking. Her Mum (my great-grandmother) would teach her how to cook traditional Serbian meals and that really grew on my Grandma. To this day she still loves cooking, but she also likes sewing. When she was a teenager she learnt how to sew and she would love to sew little dresses for her dolls. Although, her sewing skills didn’t quite grow on her as cooking did. Her family would often hear about world news through newspapers and word of mouth. Newspapers were very cheap back in the day and it wasn’t hard to get ahold of them. My grandma lived in a small apartment, to this day I think that the building is still standing. But there is a possibility that it was destroyed during the Serbian bombing that happened in 1999. These bombings destroyed some very vital parts of Serbia and they will remembered to this day.
